Terms of service

These terms are between you and Whiti Reo Limited (“we”, “us”), trading as Mind Your Tongue, GST 117-143-532. By buying from us or joining Waka Wetereo you accept them. New Zealand law applies and the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986 rights are not limited by anything here.

Buying from the shop

• All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST.
• Payment is taken by Stripe at checkout. Your order is confirmed once payment succeeds and we email you a receipt.
• Delivery is charged at the courier rate you choose at checkout. We ship within New Zealand only. Delivery timeframes are the courier's estimate, not a guarantee.
• Stock is finite. If an item sells out between payment and packing we'll contact you and refund in full.
• Physical goods become yours on delivery.

Changing or cancelling an order

You have 30 minutes after payment to cancel for a full automatic refund, using the link in your confirmation email. After that we may already have packed it — email us and we'll do what we reasonably can. Faulty or misdescribed items are always replaced or refunded; email us within a reasonable time of discovering the problem and we'll sort it promptly. Where a return is needed because the item is faulty or misdescribed, we cover the return shipping.

Who can use the service

You must be at least 13 to hold an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must consent to your use and supervises it.

Waka Wetereo membership

• Membership is $28 per month including GST, charged automatically by Stripe.
• You can cancel any time; access continues to the end of the period you've paid for and we don't pro-rate part months.
• Membership is for one person. Don't share your login, and don't download, copy, redistribute or resell course material.
• Course content is ours (or our licensors'). You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it while your membership is active.

Community rules

Waka Wetereo includes a members' community. Be kind, be respectful of te reo and of other learners, and keep it appropriate. Posts are screened automatically for harmful or abusive content and are reviewable by us. We may hide content or end a membership for serious or repeated breaches; where we do, we'll tell you why. If you think we got a moderation or account decision wrong, email us and a person will review it.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to break, overload, scrape or gain unauthorised access to the service, and don't upload malware. We rate-limit and monitor for abuse.

Availability and liability

We aim for a reliable service but can't promise uninterrupted access. If we know a planned outage is coming we'll try to give notice on the site. We're not liable for interruptions caused by events beyond our reasonable control (such as provider outages, natural disasters or network failures), though we'll always work to restore service quickly.

Where the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months. This cap never applies where the law prohibits limiting liability, and it does not affect your non-excludable rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. Nothing here excludes liability we cannot lawfully exclude.

Privacy

How we handle your information is set out in our privacy policy. In short: when your membership or account ends, your learning and community data is deleted as the privacy policy describes, while sales records we must keep for tax are retained for 7 years.

Disputes and governing law

If something goes wrong, email us first — most issues are sorted quickly that way. If we can't resolve it together, either of us can take the dispute to the Disputes Tribunal or the New Zealand courts. These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts (or the Disputes Tribunal, where it has jurisdiction) are the forum for disputes.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes affecting members will be emailed at least 14 days ahead.
